Does Gelagen Contain Collagen? The Artwork Says Yes. The Panel Says No.

Published 11 February 2026 Updated 8 September 2026 3 min read

The verdict in one line

No collagen, no hyaluronic acid, and a vitamin C dose too small to stand in for either. Our score: 3.2 / 5.

Judged as a hair-and-nail multivitamin with a readable label, Gelagen is reasonable. Judged as the glow-and-collagen product its artwork implies, the panel does not support it.

What Gelagen is

Gelagen is a two-a-day raspberry pectin gummy sold as "Advanced Gummies for Skin Health" — 60 gummies a bottle, thirteen vitamins and minerals with every amount printed, built around 5,000 mcg of biotin (16,667% of the Daily Value). It is sold on the Gelagen from $49 to $79 a bottle. It is not a medicine, it contains no collagen or hyaluronic acid, and it is not a substitute for sunscreen or a dermatologist.

The claim that is not on the label

The supplied how-it-works graphic credits “hydrolyzed collagen” and attributes hydration to “hyaluronic acid”. Neither word appears on the Supplement Facts panel or the Other Ingredients line.

What the panel does contain is 20 mg of vitamin C — a cofactor for the body's own collagen, at 22% of the Daily Value. That is not nothing, but it is not collagen, and it is not a skin-study dose. This desk rebuilt the graphic from the panel and does not use the supplied one.

The label, in brief

Gelagen printed amounts and reference intakes
NutrientPrinted (DV)Reference
Biotin5,000 mcg (16,667% DV)30 mcg/day adequate intake for adults
Vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin)6 mcg (250% DV)2.4 mcg/day RDA for adults
Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine HCl)2 mg (118% DV)1.3–1.7 mg/day RDA for adults
Folate (442 mcg DFE from 260 mcg folic acid)442 mcg DFE (111% DV)400 mcg DFE/day RDA for adults
Pantothenic acid (as d-calcium pantothenate)5.2 mg (104% DV)5 mg/day adequate intake for adults
Plus vitamins A, C, D, E, zinc, iodine, choline and inositol — all printed. No collagen, no hyaluronic acid.

The pattern is consistent. Ten of thirteen printed amounts are working nutritional doses; vitamin C sits at 22% of the Daily Value, and choline and inositol are trace amounts the label itself rounds toward zero. The collagen and hyaluronic acid on the artwork are not on the panel. Full breakdown: our full Gelagen review.

Pros and cons

What works

  • All thirteen amounts printed with Daily Values — no blend
  • Methylcobalamin B12, zinc citrate, natural d-alpha vitamin E
  • Folate stated correctly as 442 mcg DFE
  • Pectin gummy — vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free
  • Two-a-day routine that survives the months nails take to grow out

What does not

  • Artwork credits collagen and hyaluronic acid; neither is on the panel
  • Vitamin C at 20 mg — 22% DV — in a product sold on skin
  • Choline and inositol at trace amounts, padding the count
  • 5,000 mcg biotin can distort blood tests; no seller says so
  • 60-day guarantee against the 2–3 months nails take to grow out

Who it suits — and who should skip it

Worth considering for adults who want a hair-and-nail multivitamin with a large biotin dose and a label they can read line by line. Not worth it for anyone due a blood test who has not told their doctor about a 5,000 mcg biotin supplement, or anyone pregnant or planning to be, because of 630 mcg of preformed vitamin A per serving.

Nails grow about 3 mm a month and hair about 1 cm. Whatever these nutrients do shows only in new growth, two to three months for nails and longer for hair.

What actually moves skin, hair and nails is unglamorous: daily sunscreen, enough protein, sleep, not smoking, and a blood test for iron and thyroid before assuming a vitamin gap.

Verdict

No collagen, no hyaluronic acid, and a vitamin C dose too small to stand in for either. Practically: tell your doctor before any blood test, total your vitamin A across everything you take, start with three bottles rather than six, photograph your nails on day one, keep wearing sunscreen, and diarise your refund decision for day 50. Questions readers ask

Is Gelagen worth buying in 2026?

It is worth considering as a hair-and-nail multivitamin with a large biotin dose and a fully printed label. It is hard to recommend for skin glow, hydration or collagen, because vitamin C is at 22% DV and neither collagen nor hyaluronic acid is on the panel.

How long should I take Gelagen before judging it?

Two to three months, judged against a day-one photograph of your nails. New nail grows about 3 mm a month, so that is how long any change takes to reach the tip.

How long is the Gelagen guarantee?

The offer pages state 60 days from the date of purchase. A badge supplied with the product artwork says 180 days, which does not match. Screenshot the written terms on the order form before you pay and diarise day 50.
